Alamosa Considers Ballot Measure on Cannabis Retail Sales

Alamosa Considers Ballot Measure on Cannabis Retail Sales

At its next meeting on July 17, the Alamosa City Council will consider placing a question on the November ballot that would ask voters to allow retail and medical marijuana stores within city limits.

The city says it has been approached by residents who would like the question to be put to voters.

“Given the strong opinions some members of our community may have on this issue, City Council wanted to ensure the community was aware of this discussion and had the opportunity to provide input,” city spokeswoman Jasmine Husmann said.

Anyone wishing to address the City Council must complete a comment sheet prior to the meeting in order to speak during the public comment section of the agenda. There will be no public hearing on this matter.

The city must signal by the end of the month any intention to put a question on the November ballot to meet Colorado’s election deadlines. It must finalize a ballot question by September. The Alamosa City Council will meet at 7 p.m. on July 17.
