Ex-youth football chairman Derby sent sexual messages to ‘girl’

The force said officers worked with the Football Association (FA) following Jefferson’s arrest to ensure appropriate security measures were in place.

Jefferson is no longer involved in the football league and there have been no reports of personal wrongdoing by him, police added.

Det staff investigator Georgia Harries, who led the investigation for Derbyshire Police, said: “Jefferson was well aware of how old the girl he thought he was talking to was but continued to send her sexually explicit messages and tried to encourage to act. sexual acts.

“He had numerous opportunities to end the conversations when the girl repeated her age to him, but he continued with his depraved actions anyway.

“Thankfully, in this case, the recipient of the messages was not a real child – and we were able to prevent other children from becoming victims.”
