Voters deserve the blame for the outcome, not the Democrats’ campaign – San Diego Union-Tribune

Re “The Democrats’ campaign amounted to self-sabotage” (November 7): George F. Will’s pompous blame-the-victim column explaining Donald Trump’s victory shows his lifelong contempt for the Democratic Party.

American voters are responsible for this tragedy. For the first time, voters elected someone who refused to accept the results of the previous election. Trump lies, bullies, promotes violence, has sexually assaulted women, has a penchant for dictators and refuses to acknowledge climate change as we struggle with extreme heat and rebuilding from unprecedented fires, floods and hurricanes. All fueled by global warming.

One who is especially desperate is Michael Fanone, the Capitol Police officer who suffered a heart attack and traumatic brain injury while defending the Capitol on January 6, 2021, pleading with his attackers who tasered him: “I have children!” Write to him c/o Kara Voght, 1301 K Street, NW, Washington, DC 20071.

Fortunately, younger voters, accustomed to shirking and hiding, supported Kamala Harris most strongly. There is hope!
