Man arrested after officer involved shooting in Ardmore

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) – Ardmore police have released new details about a officer involved in shooting Thursday afternoon at a gas station.

According to the department, officers stopped a vehicle with a passenger, Joshua Estrada, who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Police said Estrada gave them false identification, and when officers realized this, they asked him to get out of the vehicle.

Estrada allegedly made a comment to an officer suggesting he would hurt them to avoid arrest, and as officers attempted to arrest him, police said he made an overt motion toward the officers.

Then officers fired several bullets at him.

He was taken to Exceptional Community Hospital in Ardmore where he was treated and released shortly afterwards.

The driver of the vehicle and the officers were not injured and the officers were placed on routine administrative leave.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents later arrested Estrada for terroristic threats, possession of a controlled substance and the outstanding warrant.
