Five dead in murder-suicide in Duluth, police say – Twin Cities

DULUTH – Police on Friday identified five people who died from visible gunshot wounds, including the suspect, after two incidents Thursday that are believed to be related.

According to the Duluth Police Department, officers responded to a request for a welfare check on the 6000 block of Tacony Street on Thursday around 2:10 p.m. and discovered the bodies of Erin Abramson, 47, and Jacob Nephew, 15, both with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds .

A suspect was identified and officers set up a perimeter at his home in the 4400 block of West Sixth Street. According to the press release, officers entered the home and found Kathryn Nephew (Ramsland), 45, and Oliver Nephew, 7, dead from what appeared to be gunshot wounds, as well as the suspect, Anthony Nephew, 46, from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The locations are about a mile apart, with the West Sixth Street scene across the street from Denfeld High School.

According to police, the victims and the suspect were known to each other and an investigation is underway.

Officials are expected to hold a news conference at noon Friday to release additional details.
