Rams’ Stafford sounds excited about ex-All-Pro teammate

The Los Angeles Rams (4-4) will face one of their former Super Bowl champions in cornerback Jalen Ramsey as they welcome the Miami Dolphins (2-6) on Monday Night Football.

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford spoke to the media on Thursday and mentioned the fight against his former teammate. Ramsey was part of the organization for four seasons, from 2019 to ’22. He returns to the Sofi Stadium for the first time since his exchange in March last year.

“Yeah, I mean, I practiced against him there for a while and I have so much respect for who he is as a player and a teammate,” Stafford said of his former teammate. “He impacts the game in so many different ways, like a lot of times guys stay away from him. It’s basically one by one he gets taken away from there, so he’s doing a great job like he always does. He’s getting involved in the run game there , finishing plays, blitzing, sacking the quarterback, gets a tipped interception last week.

Ramsey has 29 tackles, one interception and four pass deflections as he has played in all eight games for the Dolphins this season. His numbers so far are lower than in recent years due to the fact that many NFL teams have stayed away from the seven-time Pro Bowler, as Stafford mentioned.

“He does all the little things you want from Jalen Ramsey and I have a lot of respect for him,” Stafford said. “I had a great time playing with him as a teammate and that will be a big challenge for us on Monday night.”

Stafford Having watched Ramsey compete on the same sideline for four seasons, I have a good idea of what he will bring to the table this week when he defends the Rams. Staying away from him will be a wise choice, but don’t be surprised if Stafford attacks him because of the previous knowledge he has.

It will be all smiles between the two stars before and after the match, but once the clock is running and the match has started, it will be all business. Stafford has been out of sorts in recent weeks and it will be a tough task for Ramsey to put in an elite performance with the numerous options in the passing game.

Ramsey will likely guard his other former teammate, a veteran, at wideout Kuiper Kuppand maybe play a few snaps opposite the young star Puka Nacuasomeone Ramsey has not yet experienced in his career.
