Details On Stephanie Vaquer WWE Offer & Negotiations

Stephanie Vaquer’s signing with WWE was seemingly never in doubt.

Following on from the former CMLL and NJPW’s sudden departure from both promotions, speculation began as to which of the major companies the former CMLL Women’s Champion would sign with. While Vaquer’s appearance at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view made the chances of her becoming All Elite a real possibility, Shawn Michaels later confirmed that Vaquer had signed with the company.

New information regarding Vaquer’s future has been provided by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. It is noted that AEW was a promotion that Vaquer was not taking into serious consideration:

“Several sources close to the situation said that she didn’t seriously consider AEW. As someone who grew up watching WWE on television in Chile, that was her goal. In 2018, she had a tryout in Chile, but WWE decided against signing her. That was a long time ago and wrestling on the Chilean scene is a long way from the wrestler she is now having worked major matches throughout the world.”

While it was also reported that AEW would have allowed Vaquer to still appear in CMLL and fulfil her independent dates, the biggest promotion in the world countered with a serious financial offer:

One person in WWE said she was offered “a tremendous contract” on 7/7 because they were aware of the AEW offer.

Stephanie Vaquer Departure Causes Discourse

The nature of Vaquer’s departure also became a major talking point as the former CMLL Women’s Champion was stripped of all her championships and pulled from dates for the promotion, NJPW and independents around the world, some only a few days before the events were due to take place. According to a recent report, multiple promotions are said to be “very upset” with WWE over the events that transpired.
