A man convicted of possessing weapons and ammunition has argued his trial was unfair because the prosecution used an identification process that relied on a “defect in his ear” to establish his guilt.

“The crux of the prosecution case was the ear,” defence lawyer James B. Dwyer SC told the Court of Appeal on Thursday, arguing that gardaí should have conducted an identity parade in the case of Leon Sharlott (34).
