Weather in Manitoba: a sensational start to the weekend

Weather in Manitoba: a sensational start to the weekend

Sunshine, sailing temperatures and strong southerly winds ensure southern Manitoba has a sensational start to the weekend on Friday.

After a record-breaking high temperature of 14.5 degrees Celsius in Swan River on Thursday, the South West will enjoy another November day with unseasonably warm temperatures in the double figures.

Most centers in the region should see high temperatures between 10C and 13C in the afternoon.

Temperatures won’t rise as high in Winnipeg and the Southeast. Nevertheless, daytime highs will rise well above normal again.

For perspective, the expected minimum for the city overnight is 3 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees warmer than early November’s normal daytime maximum temperature of 1 degree Celsius.

Today and tonight it will also blow in the south with a strong and gusty south wind.

To the north – another day, another low pressure system. The center of the current low is further north, traveling east from the western Northwest Territories. As it approaches, it will spread snow across the northernmost areas of the province, including Brochet, Tadoule Lake and Churchill. Freezing rain is also possible.

Most areas further south enjoy a nice mix of sun and cloud, with sunshine and exceptionally mild temperatures. However, the southerly wind will also be strong.

The unseasonably warm weather in Manitoba will continue this weekend.

Conditions for the Western Finals between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Saskatchewan Roughriders continue to look good. If you plan to attend a tailgate party at Princess Auto Stadium before the game, expect a mix of sun and clouds and an afternoon high around 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

Kick-off is at 5.30pm, so the sun has set and the temperature is starting to drop, so dress warmly.

It will be cloudy in the city on Sunday, but still very mild, before cooler temperatures develop next week.
