Semi-truck catches fire along Oklahoma highway

A fire involving a tractor-trailer shut down part of a highway in northeastern Oklahoma for nearly two hours, state troopers said.

An initial report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol noted that the tractor-trailer was “loaded with ammunition.” While the tractor-trailer was carrying 18 tons of shingles, troopers reported that there were about 100 pounds of handgun bullets in the cab.

None of the ammunition was consumed by the fire.

Both directions of Interstate 44 were closed for an hour and 48 minutes while emergency responders responded to the scene. The incident occurred near the communities of Big Cabin and Adair, located in far northeastern Oklahoma.
