Man identified in fatal shooting in Glen Burnie, police release additional information

A man was killed after a roadside shooting in Glen Burnie on Thursday evening, officials said.

Police say on November 7 around 8:20 p.m., officers responded to the area of ​​East Furnace Branch Road and Margate Drive in Glen Burnie for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found a man with gunshot wounds on the roadway.

The man, 51-year-old Scott David Guhse of Glen Burnie, was pronounced dead at the scene by fire department personnel.

Also at the scene was a 22-year-old man who reported being the victim of an assault and was also the suspected shooter in the incident, police said.

Preliminary information in the investigation indicates the 22-year-old man was riding his motorcycle in the area of ​​Route 10 and Furnace Branch Road when he noticed another vehicle following him and driving erratically, officials said.

Police say the driver of the other vehicle pulled up next to him and yelled at him.

The other vehicle then nearly collided with the motorcycle, sending it off the roadway.

Both vehicles came to a stop on East Furnace Branch Road, where the driver of the other vehicle allegedly charged toward the 22-year-old while brandishing a hammer.

That’s when the 22-year-old pulled out a gun and shot the driver, officials said.

Police say the 22-year-old holds a concealed weapons permit through Maryland.
