A fight breaks out during a Turkish council meeting

A meeting between Turkish officials erupted into a brawl as tensions flared amid disagreements over the cost of celebrations marking the country’s founding during a period of economic hardship.

The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality According to media reports, the Council allocated 69 million Turkish liras, the equivalent of $2 million, for a concert with singer Ebru Gündeş during the Republic Day celebrations on October 29.

Another 71 million lira was set aside for a performance by the rock band Mor ve Ötesi, raising questions from critics.

Lawmakers exchanged heated words, with some claiming others were out of touch with ordinary citizens, Newsweek reported.
