Three killed and 30 injured in Israel’s attack on central Tire in Lebanon – World

BEIRUT, November 8. /TASS/. At least three people were killed and 30 others were injured after the Israeli airstrike on the port city of Tire in southern Lebanon, the country’s health ministry said.

In addition, several residential homes were destroyed in the central part of the city and in the Miyah al-Jana neighborhood. The number of casualties could increase as rescuers continue to clear debris.

Tyre, located about twenty kilometers from the border, and its surroundings were attacked by Israel at least twenty times during the day. For the first time since the outbreak of the current escalation in October 2023, Israel bombarded the city with its fighter planes and warships.

Local authorities reported serious damage to residential homes in the Majdal Silm, Al-Jmeijmi and al-Savvana neighborhoods.

Tire is located 83 kilometers from Beirut and is one of the oldest cities in the world. It was founded in 2750 BC by the Phoenicians and spun off as their largest trading center in the Mediterranean. The ruins of Tire were added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1984.
