Bishop Andrew Cozzens told Newsmax on Saturday that the upcoming National Eucharistic Congress would give Catholics “a chance to be together and be inspired.”

The first National Eucharistic Congress in 83 years will be held in Indianapolis July 17-21. Cozzens said he hopes the event will draw worshipers from all corners of the United States with pilgrimages beginning in San Francisco, Connecticut, Texas and Minnesota.

Millions of people are expected to attend, in person or online. Cozzens said the event will be filled with spiritual enlightenment and “will include prayers, evangelistic talks, certainly the celebration of the Holy Mass, and really lucky for us to be together, to be inspired, because we know we have to bring this “message sent to our country”, he said during an appearance on “America Right Now.”

Cozzens lamented that many religious denominations face the problem of disaffiliation and said that people leaving the faith “has dramatic consequences for our country.” Bishops across the country have decided that the return of the National Eucharistic Congress would help “bring back the real presence” of Jesus to the country, he said.

“And So we expect hundreds of thousands, even millions, watch tv this week and to participate in their own way. This is really the greatest effort to the renewal that the Catholic Church The Church tried to do something “generation,” Cozzens added.
