BBC star John Hunt and daughter Amy break silence after crossbow attack that killed their family

BBC sports commentator John Hunt and his daughter Amy have said their devastation “cannot be expressed in words” after the shocking crossbow attack which killed three members of the family.

The journalist’s wife and two of his daughters were shot dead last week and a suspect has been arrested. Amy is his only surviving daughter.

John and Amy have now spoken out and detailed their “devastation” that cannot be expressed in words following the loss of Carol, 61, Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, as they released a statement.

“We cannot express in words the devastation we are experiencing. We want to thank people for their kind messages and for the support we have received over the last few days. They have brought us great comfort and we are very grateful,” they said.

The statement continued: “As you can imagine, this is an extremely difficult time for us, and we need time and space to come to terms with what has happened and begin the grieving process. In the meantime, we ask that our privacy and that of our family and relationships be respected at this time. Thank you.”

It comes after more than two hundred mourners gathered at the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and St John the Evangelist in High Street on Friday evening to pay their respects.

John’s wife and two daughters were found dead in what appears to be a gruesome crossbow attack at a home in Ashlyn Close, Bushey, Hertfordshire, on Tuesday, where the women were found with fatal injuries.
