Missing nurse found dead while on holiday in Hungary, police say

PORTLAND ore. (KPTV/Gray News) – A missing nurse was found dead while on vacation in Hungary, according to authorities.

Budapest police said 31-year-old Mackenzie “Kenzie” Michalski was last seen at a Budapest nightclub on November 5 before disappearing.

Police said investigators noted “several suspicious circumstances” about her disappearance and later identified a 37-year-old Irish man with whom she was seen at several clubs.

During interrogation, the man allegedly showed investigators where he had hidden Michalski’s body, Budapest police said.

He remains in police custody.

Michalski was a neurosurgery nurse at Providence St. Vincent.

Providence released a statement saying they are “deeply saddened” by the news of her death.

The US State Department released a statement saying they were working with the US Embassy in Budapest and police there.
