Krejcikova meets Catherine, Princess of Wales and Princess Charlotte

Although Catherine, Princess of Wales, was unable to attend Barbora Krejcikova’s coronation at Wimbledon in London on Saturday, she did make sure to meet the champion before the third Grand Slam tournament of the year officially ended.

Patron of the All England Club, the princess made a rare public appearance on Centre Court on Sunday, her second such outing since revealing her cancer diagnosis earlier this year in March. She greeted players including 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu, received a standing ovation upon her return to Centre Court, and later presented Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic with their champion and runner-up trophies, respectively.

Kate and her young daughter, Princess Charlotte, 9, also made time in their schedules for a special meeting with Krejcikova, who was pictured sharing a sweet moment with the young royal.

The Czech presented the young player with one of her rackets and Charlotte smiled from ear to ear as she watched the famous Venus Rosewater Dish, which Krejcikova won on Saturday with a three-set victory over Italy’s Jasmine Paolini.

In a social media post, Krejcikova said it was “an honour” to meet Kate.

Last month, Kate said in a statement that she had “good days and bad days” and that her “treatment is ongoing and will last for a few more months.”

“On days when I feel well enough, it’s a joy to engage in school life, to dedicate personal time to the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as to start doing some work at home,” she said.
