Spectrum Announces Completion of Broadband Expansion in Rural Platte County

PECULIAR, Mo. — Spectrum announced Monday that the final expansion of gigabit broadband, mobile, TV and voice in rural Platte County is complete.

Spectrum is working to expand its services to rural America, previously impacting rural Clay, Cass, Johnson, Lafayette, Platte and Ray counties in the Kansas City, Missouri, area. This is made possible in part by the Federal Communications Commission’s Rural Digital Opportunity Fund. The FCC has committed up to $20.4 billion over the next decade to support the expansion of high-speed internet.

Katie’s Catering switched to Spectrum when it expanded to Cass County a year ago. Owner Katie Pritchett said catering requires effective communication between herself and her staff, vendors and customers. She said she loses customers by missing phone calls and emails.

“I literally had clients saying, sorry, you didn’t get back to me, you know, in two or three days, and if it was a weekend, and we had events going on, but I couldn’t, you know, I couldn’t leave and go try to get into town and reach them,” Pritchett said.

Today, Pritchett said she is growing Katie’s Catering and credits her new relationship for the opportunity. She said her business is growing and allowing her to expand her services.

“It’s a dream. Our sales volume has only increased. We’ve been so fortunate and blessed to be able to grow. Just the communication, I actually have brides who say, ‘Wow, no one has reached out to me as quickly as you have,’” Pritchett said.
