Men’s soccer team announces 2024 schedule

FORT MYERS, Florida – The Florida Gulf Coast University men’s soccer team announced its 16-game schedule Monday, including seven home games.

“Our goal is to be in the race in November,” said the head coach Jesse Cormier “We will fight to win every game we play, whether it’s home or away. We are excited about the challenge and we believe we have a team capable of having a special year. We look forward to it every day that passes.”

The season opens with a cross-state road game against FIU on Aug. 13 before returning home for an exhibition game against Miami Dade on Aug. 17 at 2 p.m.

The Eagles head into a four-game road series against Elon (8/22), NC State (8/25), Georgia Southern (8/30) and USF (9/6) before returning home to face Utah Valley on Sept. 8 at 7 p.m., followed by a road game against High Point before the start of Atlantic Sun Conference play.

ASUN play begins Sept. 21 against Jacksonville at home at 6 p.m. The schedule alternates each week between home and away with four ASUN home games in Fort Myers against Jacksonville, North Florida (10/5), Lipscomb (10/19) and Queens (11/2), with Queens being the final game of the regular season. The Eagles’ ASUN road schedule includes Stetson (9/28), Bellarmine (10/12) and Central Arkansas (10/25). FAU will come to town for a non-conference home game Tuesday at 7 p.m. (10/15).

There will be a fantastic series of promotions throughout the season including Junior Night against Utah Valley on September 8th. The October 15th game against FAU kicks off a week of special promotions starting with Soccer Bingo Night against FAU and then Kick Cancer (Pinkout) Night against Lipscomb on October 19th. The final promotion of the season is Senior Day on November 2nd against Queens.

The Green and Blue were selected second in the 2023 preseason poll, receiving one first-place vote. The 2023 campaign was marked by close games, with 11 of 15 decided by one goal or less. The Eagles went 2-4-5 in those games.
