Victim identified in fatal shooting Wednesday in Camilla, GBI investigation

CAMILLA, Ga. (WALB) – One man has been pronounced dead following the shooting on Wednesday, October 30 in Camilla.

The shooting happened Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Furlow Street and Jester Street.

The GBI identified the victim as Kelvin Church, 17, of Camilla.

Church was pronounced dead on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, according to Mitchell County Coroner Jamey Thompson.

An autopsy will be performed at the GBI Crime Lab.

According to the GBI, no arrests have been made so far.

The investigation is active and ongoing.

Once the investigation is complete, the case will be transferred to the South Georgia Circuit District Attorney’s Office for protection, according to the GBI.
