A 39-year-old Crown Point resident was arrested for possession of methamphetamine following a traffic stop on Saturday, June 29, the Chesterton Police Department reports.

Police say shortly after 9:40 p.m., Sergeant Eric Lisoski was driving northbound on Tremont Road when he saw an oncoming vehicle pass him “at a high rate of speed.” Lisoski made a U-turn and stopped the vehicle in the westbound lane of U.S. 20.

Lisoski, accompanied to the scene by Officer Darren Conley, made contact with the driver, who was unable to locate her license, stating she had just gone “to the Michigan City casino” and “may have lost it there,” police said.

Lisoski then retrieved his canine partner, Zeke, who sniffed the vehicle in the open air, during which time he raised the alarm, police said. A search of the vehicle yielded a quantity of methamphetamine and a smoking device.

The driver was transported to the Porter County Jail on charges of possession of at least 10 but less than 28 grams of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia, police said.
