Rihanna, 36, fuels rumors she is retiring as fans cry they are ‘heartbroken’

Rihanna is absolutely terrifying her fans that a recent speech she gave at a Fenty Beauty event in her native Barbados means she’s retiring from music.

During the speech, the Umbrella singer, 36, said that while music has made her famous and opened doors for her, God has other plans for her moving forward.

This has fueled fans’ fears that RiRi will never complete her highly anticipated ninth album and, in fact, may never release new music again.

After all, it’s been a while since her last musical performance at the 2023 Super Bowl, which fans are well aware of, especially when Taylor Swift and Beyoncé have had such huge tours since the last time Rihanna toured.

What doesn’t help Rihanna’s fans is the fact that she hasn’t released a new album in eight years.

And earlier this year, the Pon de Replay hitmaker was spotted wearing a blue T-shirt with the text ‘I’m Retired’ on the front.

To top it all off, Rihanna is very focused on Fenty Beauty and her other desires in the beauty and fashion industry and has made no secret of the fact that she thoroughly enjoys that creative process.

One passionate fan wrote: ‘Music was the thing that got the attention, but God had other plans for me. Rihanna is gone, bye.”

“Rihanna is really retired,” another fan said, adding a broken heart emoji. “We’re not getting any new music.”

Someone else went doom and gloom, writing: “Rihanna announces her retirement ace will be president, radical optimism and eternal sunshine is rejected, I’m out,” they said, referring to Dua Lipa and Ariana Grande’s albums that were rejected by the Grammy Awards.

Another fan warned against pressuring Rihanna, writing, “I know people are big fans etc, but I need to stop pressuring Rihanna for music. She flat out says she’s done and I admire that man, quit while she was at the top and has now evolved to do other things.”

One fan shared an image of a coffin and wrote: “Rihanna passed away in her sleep last night.”

“Rihanna has really retired from music. Sad to hear, but honestly can’t judge her. It’s not an honest industry,” someone else said.

Rihanna has not explicitly stated that she is quitting music. In June, she calmed her fanbase somewhat by revealing that she would be restarting work on a new album.

At the same time, she addressed the viral rumors that circulated after she wore the “I’m Retired” t-shirt.

She denied there was any meaning behind the T-shirt and said it had a different line on it.

“This is as dressed up as I can get,” and that was the point she was trying to make.
