Nick Saban Tells the Story of ‘The Bama Standard’ and How Players Followed the Message

DALLAS, Texas. (WBRC) – With the addition of Nick Saban to the SEC Network, we’re likely going to hear stories we never would have heard when he was coaching.

Well, we got a little taste of that on Wednesday when Saban talked about former Crimson Tide great Julio Jones and what he did when he wasn’t even playing at Alabama anymore.

“We were playing 7-on-7 this summer, and the coaches weren’t allowed to be there. Julio Jones was there rehabbing, he hadn’t played there (in Tuscaloosa) in 10 years, it was probably 2019,” Saban recalled. “Julio watches 7-on-7… the receiver drops the ball, kicks the ball, cusses the quarterback, gets mad at the DB that was defending him, Julio calls the guy and says, ‘That’s not how we do it here.’ He hadn’t played there in 10 years, but he still understood the culture and the way things were done.”

The Bama standard.
