DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – The regular season for high school football is over.

Besides seeing incredible action on the field, it’s no secret that we had a great meal under the Friday night lights this season.

News4 had the pleasure of traveling from school to school to put the best-selling menu items through the Friday Night Foodie taste test.

Now it’s time for the play-offs. This year we wanted to have some fun and hear what your favorite menu item was this season. Let’s take a trip down memory lane.

Foodie fans kicked off the season Dale County to try out the Warrior’s best-selling seasoned fries. Each batch is seasoned to perfection. Of course we had to cover them with cheese, what’s a football match without cheese fries?

We packed our things and headed out Province of Geneva to get a taste of the decades-old recipe for the chili dogs. This is a family recipe. Did you know they have a back window to sell them to people who aren’t even at the game? Next time you drive through on a Friday evening in the fall, make sure you grab a bite to eat.

Early province was on the list this season. News4 crossed state lines to order the chili cheese nachos. The Bobcats are proud of their homemade chili.

When you think of a football match, you often think of a burger. That’s why we went to Abbeville to put this classic menu item to the test. It was Hive Nation’s homecoming, and these burgers are worth coming home to.

The west side of the Wiregrass is known for its hot dogs. That of Geneva classic dogs were a hit. Every bite is grilled to perfection.

Week five was a blast from the past with the Slocomb corn dogs. We first tried them at the 2023 National Peanut Festival fairgrounds, but we liked them so much we had to encourage the Red Tops to eat one. This is a tradition for this school.

The Houston County Lions did not disappoint with their BBQ nachos. Like many of these concession stands, this BBQ is a family recipe. That’s what makes you love and cherish every bite so much. This BBQ was thrown on chips, fries and sandwiches.

Week seven we were working with the dogs again Cottonwoods best selling sausage dogs. The secret to great taste must stay in the bear’s den, but fans loved every bite.

News4 made a trek to Kinston to try not one, but two of their delicious dishes. What’s a dinner without dessert? We started the meal with the chicken fingers with homemade BBQ dipping sauce and topped it off with a sweet funnel cake. Savory and sweet for the best of both worlds at a football match.

As the season progresses, the clock also runs towards the National Peanut Festival. The week of the festivities we went to Caroll for their famous boiled peanuts. Eagles flocked to the concession stand for this fast seller.

To wrap up Friday Night Foodie season, we headed to Coffee County to get the Enterprise Wildcats citizens put to the test. Something special about this trip, this menu item was sports support. These burgers were grilled by the head baseball coach and pitching coach to feed football fans. It was a night full of school spirit and Wildcat pride.
