A man was killed and another injured in two shooting incidents carried out by three people within 10 minutes in separate areas of northeast Delhi, police said on Saturday.

The suspect first shot at a person in Welcome’s Kabir Nagar around 1am, looted his scooty and drove it to a location in neighboring Jyoti Nagar and shot at a house, a senior police officer said.

While Nadeem (a.k.a. Bobby) and Shahnawaz suffered bullet injuries in the first incident, no one was injured in the second. Police said the two injured were taken to a hospital where Nadeem was declared dead while Shahnawaz was recovering, police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Rakesh Paweriya said the three suspects have been arrested and are being interrogated.

Police said they first received information about the firing in Kabir Nagar and when a team was sent, they found three empty cartridges and a motorcycle on the roadside.

On inquiry, the police found that the motorcycle belonged to the suspect, who left it there and fled with the scooty of one of the victims.

Another fire incident in Delhi’s Jyoti Nagar

Meanwhile, another PCR call was received from neighboring Jyoti Nagar area at 1.26 am regarding firing at a house by three men on a scooty.

The caller, identified as Rahul, said the suspect came on a scooty and opened fire at his house but no one was injured in the incident. Six empty and one live cartridge were found at the scene.

Another officer said the suspects were later apprehended from the same area.

It is suspected that the accused had a financial dispute with Nadeem worth Rs 10,000. They wanted to target him but Shahnawaz also suffered a bullet wound in his leg while standing nearby.

The suspects are being questioned further to determine the exact cause of the shooting at both locations.

A murder case has been registered at Welcome police station and an FIR has also been registered in Jyoti Nagar.
