BBC Breakfast branded ‘amateur hour’ after huge blunder leaves viewers furious | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

BBC Breakfast fans were left stunned when a sports report was accidentally intercut with random footage of someone using a mobile phone.

Twitter users called the encounter an “amateur moment” and reactions ranged from hysterical laughter to fury. “Director on internship this morning?? Amateur moment #bbcbreakfast,” wrote one incredulously.

Another asked: “Who’s on the phone?”, adding a series of laughing emojis. “@BBCBreakfast did the guy in the video room fall asleep?” joked a third.

Another joked: “Thanks for that, I needed a good laugh…” Others agreed, sarcastically exclaiming: “A Classic Sport report,” while someone admitted: “I literally cried laughing, that was absolutely brilliant.”

The phone mistake wasn’t the only awkward moment on the show. Naga Munchetty recalled one of her own embarrassing experiences when a segment about a seagull came on. A man had been baffled when he saw feathers falling from his chimney and had expected the worst: a dead animal trapped inside.

However, when he sought expert help, a live seagull was discovered there.

The bird, dazed and perplexed, was lifted up and safely released.

However, the video of the moment reminded Naga of his own experience, when pigeons had taken up residence in the chimney.

She revealed that she had to seek professional help to get them out.

Meanwhile, last year, Naga was hysterical and unable to control her laughter after a video surfaced showing a man being hit on the head by a pigeon.

He had been caught completely off guard as he flew straight at him as he was heading towards the shops.

As the shocked man rubbed his aching head and Naga learned that he had described it as ‘being hit full lungs with a feather pillow’, she squealed in amusement.

As her co-star highlighted the “really good CCTV footage” of the incident, she joked: “It’s better than some of the filming we do!”
