W New Orleans French Quarter Announces Renovation

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – W New Orleans – French Quarter, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s global portfolio of more than 30 extraordinary hotel brands, underwent a highly anticipated, multi-million dollar renovation of its 97 reimagined guestrooms and carriage houses earlier this year. Led by Canadian design firm Chapi Chapo Design, the city’s vibrant and dynamic epicenter is at the heart and soul of this project, masterfully capturing the intricate textures and soothing tones reminiscent of New Orleans’ famed bayou.

“We are proud to welcome guests to a blend of history, mystery and modern luxury in our brand-new guestrooms and carriage houses,” said Derek Tueller, general manager of W New Orleans – French Quarter. “For this project, the teams drew inspiration from the authentic charm of this one-of-a-kind city, inviting guests on a captivating journey through design. Now, each elevated yet playful space is a treasure to be discovered, where classic New Orleans style touches every corner.”

From Sazerac to Swingin’ Jazz: Local Influences Abound

Guests can escape the hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street to explore the charm of the Bayou. Each design element tells its own story, carefully selected to transport guests behind the hotel’s façade and immerse them in the enigmatic charm of the famous swamps – all from the comfort of their own room.

A bold navy backdrop with French-style wall moldings separates the bedroom from the sitting area in each guest room with an open floor plan. Pops of Sazerac orange—the official spirit of New Orleans—are present throughout the design, and the rooms are complemented by marble coffee tables, gold accessories, soft lighting, and framed black-and-white line drawings of jazz singers in action. Different layers and tones blend together to create a textured gumbo that works seamlessly together.

From Spanish moss-inspired sconces to custom floor lamps that cast a backlit visual of an ornate bayou canopy on the ceiling, the redesign was designed to provide guests with the authentic, intimate ambiance of a sanctuary, where local touches are never too far away. Each guestroom’s MIX Bar was strategically designed with nods to a treasure chest, an homage to the famous Louisiana legend of Jean Lafitte: a French pirate who hid his treasure in the bayou.

“Being born and raised in Paris, I felt a strong connection to this project given Louisiana’s strong French influence,” said Boris Mathias, Partner at Chapi Chapo Design. “This design was inherently a dance between the rich history woven into the streets of the French Quarter, the architectural tapestry, and the buzzing social pulse that resonates throughout the city. We are proud to unveil a design that invites guests to step behind the veil, surrender to the magic, and enjoy the enchantment of the Bayou.”

French Quarter culture comes alive

Offering an authentic taste of the pace and culture of the Big Easy, W New Orleans – French Quarter is home to a signature Cajun-Creole restaurant, 3rd Block Depot, private meeting rooms, an intimate and picturesque courtyard often considered the soul of the hotel, a heated pool and more. The hotel is located in the heart of New Orleans, a vibrant oasis where guests can experience cobblestone streets, historic buildings and live music while exploring the city.
