Horror as man was stopped after trying to open plane door | World | News

Passengers were left terrified after a man tried to open the emergency door of a plane thousands of feet above the ground.

Flight CM204 of Copa Airlines, Panama’s national carrier, was descending into Panama City when the passenger attempted to open the exit.

More than a hundred passengers were on board the flight, which departed from the Brazilian capital Brasilia on November 5.

According to the airline, the man began exhibiting erratic and violent behavior, causing the other passengers on board the Boeing 737 to panic.

Video shared online shows crew and passengers restraining the man.

Copa Airlines said its crew had been trained to deal with these types of situations and other passengers had been kept informed of developments.

The plane landed safely at Panama’s Tocumen International Airport, where the man was arrested by waiting police officers.

Safety officials conducted an inspection of the aircraft and passengers to ensure the situation was fully under control.

It has not been confirmed whether the man was deliberately trying to endanger the plane or whether he was suffering from a health crisis.

Copa Airlines did not provide any further details on the condition of the arrested passenger.

In an unrelated incident, armed police in Argentina stormed a plane bound for New York last week after a banging noise was heard, raising concerns that someone was trapped in the cargo hold.
