CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Head Coach of the UNI Men’s Basketball Team Ben Jacobson announced a pair of program staff updates heading into the 2024-25 season.

Haley Lang Street was promoted to director of basketball operations, after spending the previous three years as assistant director of basketball operations. Ike Hermer He will serve as the program’s video coordinator. That role will see his responsibilities expanded significantly due to recent NCAA rule changes allowing for a fourth on-field coach to be present and involved in off-campus recruiting.

“Haley and Ike have been instrumental in the day-to-day operations of our men’s basketball program for several years,” said UNI men’s basketball head coach Ben Jacobson“I am both excited and grateful that they will continue to work with our players and staff going forward.”

Langstraat, who joined the UNI staff full-time in 2021, will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Panthers men’s basketball program, including the team budget, travel, quality control, NCAA compliance, scheduling and fundraising, among other duties. A former Panthers student leader, she also helps coaches organize the team’s class schedules and recruiting calendars and also supervises the team’s student leaders. Langstraat graduated from UNI in May 2021 with a degree in recreation, tourism and nonprofit leadership.

“Haley has been a consistent and influential contributor since her time as a student body,” Jacobson said. “She continues to embrace challenges, take on new responsibilities and perform at an extremely high level. Haley’s attention to detail and attention to detail are unmatched. We are very fortunate to have Haley leading our basketball program as the Director of Basketball Operations.”

A two-time graduate of the University of Minnesota, Hermer will oversee the Panthers’ video operations and analytics for practice and game film, as well as on-court scouting and coaching duties. Prior to arriving in Cedar Falls in 2019, Hermer spent five seasons as Minnesota’s assistant director of player personnel for men’s basketball, creating scouting reports, scheduling recruiting visits and leading the team’s youth camps. He also served as the Golden Gophers’ assistant director of basketball operations, as well as the team’s academic advisor.

“I am very excited for our program and for Ike,” Jacobson said. “He has done so many quality things for our program over the last five years. This new role allows Ike to expand his impact and our program will benefit from his knowledge and game sense. The opportunity to keep Ike with our program as our video coordinator is a win for us.”
