EFF is not falling apart: Malema – SABC News

Leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malemahas mocked suggestions that the departure of some senior party leaders would mark the beginning of the end for the party.

This follows the resignation of the party’s former national chairman, Lawyer Dali Mpofuthis week.

Mpofu has joined a list of party members who recently left the red berets to join the uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) party.

The list includes former Vice President Floyd Shivambu, as well as former MPs, lawyer Busisiwe and Mzwanele Manyi. However, Malema has told SABC News that the departure of the leaders does not mean that the party is falling apart.

“It cannot fall apart because you cannot destroy what you have not built. It is our own child; it’s our own baby, and we decide what to do with it. The EFF is the future and cannot be destabilized by opportunism.”

“Not surprising”

Meanwhile, Malema says Mpofu’s departure from the party is not surprising.

Malema says Mpofu had been calling for a merger between the EFF and the MK party for some time.

He also says he respects Mpofu for being open about all his intentions.
