Understanding Rockstar’s communications strategy

Rockstar Games has always been secretive about it GTA 6. They remained silent until the first trailer in December 2023. It was also because of the leaks that they had to take action.

Rockstar has previously kept quiet for a long time while developing their titles. For example, there was a major delay between updates for GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Some fans believe Rockstar will release a second trailer in late January or early February 2025, matching the timeline of Take-Two Interactive’s (T2) earnings report. There are also rumors and hopes that Rockstar could surprise fans with a Trailer 2 release in November or December.

GTA 6 release & postponement to 2026?

Take-Two’s financial year normally ends with a substantial earnings report in May, which includes regularly updated revenue forecasts and release dates for new games. This report is important because it gives stakeholders an overview of the company’s financial health and future goals.

Now many fans are pondering if Rockstar and T2 decide to keep quiet until May’s report, this could indicate a delay in GTA 6’s release to spring 2026.

However, no official announcement has been made to confirm the delay, which is consistent with their approach of not announcing delays prematurely. Also, at the recent meetingit was revealed that they are still on track with the Fall 2025 release of GTA 6.

Fans eagerly await news developments or updates. The assumption seems to be that a second teaser could be released shortly before the February earnings announcement to keep fans interested and excited.
