Fans fear for VCHA’s future after performance cancelled

In 2023, JYP Entertainment And The records of the RepublicCollaborative Hearing Program A2K (America 2 Korea) was aired. The show aimed to launch an American girl group formed under the K-Pop system, eventually producing the diverse girl group VCHA.

After pre-debut activities, VCHA debuted in January 2024 with the single “Girls of the Year,” which currently has 8.8 million views on Youtube.

Shortly after the release of their second single in March, VCHA announced that they would be performing at Lollapalooza Chicago 2024, which excited many fans. However, on July 19, it was announced that VCHA would no longer be performing at the festival.

At the time of writing, neither JYP neither The records of the Republic released a statement regarding the canceled performance, adding to the list of fans’ grievances.

In March 2024, it was announced that Kaylee would be taking a break due to health reasons, with the promise of updates on her condition. Since then, there have been no updates on Kaylee’s health.

The lack of updates could also be attributed to the inactivity of the group’s social media accounts. The group’s last YouTube video was uploaded in April, and the official X and TikTok accounts haven’t been updated in over a month.

This kind of inactivity would be odd for even more established groups, making it all the more confusing for fans that a group less than 7 months old has remained so quiet. Fans have been demanding updates from JYP, especially considering the company plans to launch a Latin girl group in the near future.
