Marcus Rashford: Manchester United consider case ‘closed’ after striker sent off for nightclub outing

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has “taken responsibility” after being left out of the squad for missing training.

The 26-year-old was absent on Friday after being spotted at a nightclub in Belfast the previous evening, initially prompting Erik ten Hag to say the player was suffering from an illness.

However, it quickly emerged that Rashford was facing disciplinary proceedings from his club.

Ten Hag left him at home for Sunday’s FA Cup win at Newport and vowed to “manage” the situation.

In a statement released Monday evening, United called the matter “closed.”

It read: “Marcus has taken responsibility for his actions. This matter was handled as an internal disciplinary matter, which is now closed.”

Rashford had already broken this rule when he was spotted partying hours after a derby defeat to Manchester City in November.

But he returned to training this week ahead of United’s trip to Wolves on Thursday, for which he is expected to be in contention.
