Head to Muskie for some Nevis fun today – Park Rapids Enterprise

The annual Nevis Muskie Days celebration offers fun activities for the whole family. Admission is free to all events, including the music festival on Saturday, July 20.

Saturday’s activities program includes:

  • Ojibwe crafts and games for children until 4:30 p.m., including dreamcatcher making and watercolor painting.
  • Water Wars, hosted by the Nevis Volunteer Fire Department, at 1:30 p.m.
  • Kids’ Buried Treasure Dig in the domed playroom at Muskie Park at 4 p.m. Dig for cash and a chance to win a new bike.
  • Big parade through town at 6pm. Line is at school at 5pm.

Admission is free to all musical performances on the Muskie Waters Music Stage under the Water Tower.

  • 1:30 p.m. Darren Quam from Battle Lake with rock songs from the 60s and 70s
  • 3:00 p.m. Drum and dance demonstration by the Buffalo River Drum and Dance Group
  • 4:30 p.m. Fargo/Moorhead crop dusters
  • 7pm Wicked Bees: original tracks and covers of third wave/reggae/pop rock classics
  • 8 p.m. Hooligan Fire: Caliab Heiderich’s swirling fire
  • 9pm Heatbox: Sounds from the mouth of Aaron “Heatbox” Heaton
  • 11:00 p.m. Jon Wayne and the Pain with heartbreaking reggae ballads

On the Iron Horse stage, Midbros will play from 9pm until closing time.

Visitors staying in the area for the weekend are invited to attend the Nevis Fire Station Pancake Breakfast, served on Sunday, July 21 from 8 a.m. to noon. There will also be an open house and an opportunity to tour the fire station.

There is a 15-metre obstacle course, a climbing wall and a slide for children as well as bouncy castles for the younger ones. The inflatables are open until 8pm

Crafts, art and thrift store treasures will be on display at the Muskie Market along the Heartland Trail until dusk Saturday. There will also be live chainsaw demonstrations.
