Travis Hunter’s fiancee opens up about the biggest ‘culture shock’ she experienced after moving from England to America

United States or “The land of opportunities.” America is a great nation, but every nation has its flaws. Today, we catch up with Travis Hunter’s fiancée Leanna Lenee as she shares her side of the story about what made the United States stand out to her. The soon-to-be-married duo have a romance that has been going on since college. She has always been there for Travis during his games and even during his liver injury. So let’s find out what she had to say in a little Q&A she did on her Instagram.

On July 21, a fan asked Lenee a simple question. “When you come to America since you were born in England,” They said. Lenee gave a simple answer but it contained an important detail. “I MOVED TO AMERICA WHEN I WAS 10 AND IT WAS LIKE A HUGE CULTURE SHOCK LOL” she replied. Culture shock is not something new or alien. If any of us were to move, we would also find ourselves enveloped in new customs or rules. Intrigued by her answer, the fan continued to ask: “Why is America in a state of culture shock?” What Lenee summed up every new thing she’s witnessed since setting foot on American soil.

She replied, “RACE IS THE BIGGEST SUBJECT IN EUROPE. RACE WAS NOT A HUGE SUBJECT. EVERYONE IS VERY LOVING AND ACCEPTING OF EVERYONE, SO I AM MIXED, IT WAS WEIRD COMING HERE WHERE MY RACE WAS A HUGE SUBJECT, BECAUSE IN GERMANY IT WAS NOT A HUGE SUBJECT OR EVEN TAKEN TWICE. ALSO, MOVING HERE, PEOPLE ARE MORE OPINIONAL THAN IN EUROPE LOL.” Lenee, a person of mixed heritage, namely Black, Mexican, and Filipino, may not have faced the same racial prejudices in England as she did in America. Sure, some people may take her response as something negative, but sometimes, old ailments tend to linger like a disease. Hell, take COVID as an example. We have vaccines and everything for that now, yet we still see cases of this disease spike at times. However, it seems like Lenee has now gotten used to everything and is grateful for where she is in life, despite the challenges. With her wedding on the way, I’m sure fans would be much more intrigued by this part.

Since their trip to Hawaii, fans have been tapping their feet excitedly and looking for answers to their questions. “When is the wedding?” Well, fear not. On July 18, Leanna Lenee shared on her Instagram story how excited her friend was when she was asked to be Lenee’s maid of honor. A box with a bottle of wine, a letter, and wait, what’s that? A date? Lenee kept the date a secret from her fans, but her friend couldn’t.

On May 25, 2025, the couple plans to get married. When her friend mentioned it in her story, “Oh my God, I literally had cuts all morning.” This was not a joke. I’m sure all fans would feel the same way. Now everyone has two things to look forward to: Travis Hunter crushing the 2024 season for the Buffs and the couple getting married in 2025.
