Verstappen and Norris were involved in a first-lap incident in Hungary.

Max Verstappen’s radio message to his Red Bull team after he was told to let Lando Norris pass at the Hungarian Grand Prix says it all.

Verstappen started third on the grid at the Hungaroring, behind the McLaren of Oscar Piastri and pole-sitter Norris.

The Dutchman, however, made a good start and found himself alongside Piastri and Norris entering the first corner of the first lap.

However, he was on the outside entering the corner, and Norris’ late action to avoid hitting his team-mate on the inside forced Verstappen off the track.

Verstappen would then join the circuit in second position, behind Piastri but ahead of Norris.

The Briton complained that his rival should give him back his position, with Verstappen’s race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase telling him to do so to avoid the risk of further punishment later in the grand prix.

And even though he complied, Verstappen wasn’t too happy.

He was indignant: “Why can’t they just tell (the commissioners) what they think, and then we’ll decide?” He then launched into a series of insults.

“Okay, so you can just get people off the track? You can tell the FIA that’s something we can do from now on… just get people off the road.”

It is not the first time Verstappen and Norris have been embroiled in controversy this season, with the pair colliding while battling for the lead in the closing stages of the Austrian Grand Prix.

Verstappen was handed a 10-second time penalty for the incident, while Norris was forced to retire from the race.

They appeared to be in better spirits with each other in the cooling room after both finishing on the podium at Silverstone behind Lewis Hamilton, but their latest incident has clearly angered Verstappen, who complained of brake problems throughout the opening exchanges of the race in Budapest.
