Woman in critical condition after crash in Hartford

HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) – A woman in her 40s is in critical condition after a crash Friday evening.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Bond Street at approximately 7:33 p.m.

Police say patrol units were dispatched to the scene following reports that a motor vehicle had struck a pedestrian.

Officers arrived to find an unconscious woman lying in the roadway adjacent to the east curb of Franklin Avenue.

The victim, who appeared to have suffered serious head injuries, was bleeding from the head.

She was immediately transported by Aetna Ambulance to Hartford Hospital for emergency treatment.

The vehicle involved in the crash fled before police arrived.

Investigators believe the vehicle was a gray-colored SUV.

However, later that evening, patrol units found the abandoned SUV on Elliot Place, a short distance from the crash site.

The vehicle was found empty on the roadway.

The Hartford Police Crime Scene Division processed the scene and the vehicle was towed to the Public Safety Complex for further investigation.

Currently, the condition of the female victim remains critical but stable.

Authorities are actively investigating the incident and anyone with information about the collision is urged to contact Hartford police.

This is a developing story and updates will be provided as more details become available.
