Man known to police was injured in shooting in Longueuil

LONGUEUIL – A man was injured Saturday after being hit by gunfire in Longueuil.

Longueuil police say they were notified at 10 a.m. of a man injured by a bullet on Beauregard St.

Once on the scene, officers saw that the 20-year-old man, an acquaintance of the police, had been seriously injured in the lower body. He was taken to hospital.

Police say the initial investigation led them to establish a secure crime scene on Jacques-Cartier Blvd. and St-Hélène St., also in Longueuil.

The police canine unit and forensic identification unit were dispatched to support the investigation, which is now ongoing.

Police are calling on anyone with information about the shots to contact them.
