Iowa Woman Caught Skipping Federal Probation in Sangamon County

U.S. Marshals arrested a western Iowa woman who had absconded from federal parole in Sangamon County Wednesday night, according to our media partners at WLDS.

Amanda M. Belnap, 37, of Atlantic, Iowa, was booked into the Sangamon County Jail on Thursday.

Belnap is currently serving 5 years of mandatory federal probation in connection with a February 2022 conviction for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

Between July 2020 and May 2021, Belnap obtained approximately 16 kilograms of methamphetamine at his Atlantic home from a source in California through the mail.

As part of the conspiracy, Belnap distributed the methamphetamine to people at locations in southern and northern Iowa and would send money back to the source in California. Seven other conspirators were arrested and pleaded guilty to federal charges in 2022.

Belnap remains held in the Sangamon County Jail on a federal basis.
