Texas Tech coach yells at student section to stop throwing debris on the field

Texas Tech hosts Colorado in a game with potential Big 12 championship implications, and it’s been competitive all game.

However, the fans continue a negative trend in college football, with fans throwing debris on the field as they object with a phone call.

When the fans started it Saturday night, coach Joey McGuire emphatically told them to stop throwing debris on the field. Here’s a video of McGuire yelling at the Texas Tech student section:

This trend started during the Georgia-Texas game, when fans threw stuff on the field after a penalty nullified a Texas interception. However, during the delay caused by fans throwing stuff on the field, the officials overturned the penalty and gave the Longhorns the ball.

During that broadcast, Joel Klatt said the officials set a precedent for the fans to react this way, and this is the fourth straight week this has happened in the NCAA. The first was in Texas, but it has also happened in the past two weeks at Ohio State and Clemson.

Colorado ultimately defeated Texas Tech 41-27.
