Prince Andrew secures enough money to stay at Lodge after King Charles cuts off his allowance: report

According to ‘The Sunday Times’, it was accepted that the Duke of York’s funds came from legitimate sources

Prince Andreas has raised the money needed to continue staying at the Royal Lodge afterwards King Charles his personal allowance was reduced, according to a new report.

The Duke of York, 64 – whose elder brother reportedly has ordered the Keeper of the Privy Purse to withdraw his £1 million ($1.3 million) annual personal allowance and stop paying for his personal security after a reported ultimatum to move out – has now raised the money to to continue living at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, where he has lived since 2003, according to The Sunday times. He lives with his ex-wife in the estate with 31 rooms, Sarah Ferguson.

According to the outlet, Prince Andrew’s money was cleared by the Keeper of the Privy Purse Sir Michael Stevens as coming from legitimate sources.

Buckingham Palace had no comment when reached by PEOPLE.

The latest update comes after King Charles, 75, recently cut some financial ties with the Duke of York, according to a book excerpt shared by The Daily Mail earlier this month.

In an updated version of his book, Charles III: new king. New Court. The inner storywrote author Robert Hardman that Prince Andrew rejected a proposal to move from the Royal Lodge in Windsor to the ‘significantly smaller property’ of Frogmore Cottage – previously occupied by Prince Harry And Meghan Markle before moving to the United States.

According to The timesthe Duke of York has lived on the property since 2003. He spent more than $9 million on repairs and renovations, as well as $1 million to take over, and had an annual rent of about $337,000, the outlet reported.

The reported rejection of Prince Andrew’s proposal led to his allowance being cut, as well as his personal security – which the king had paid for after Andrew lost his police protection in 2022, according to The sun.

According to the excerpt shared last week, he was told that if the Duke of York had continued to live at the Royal Lodge in Windsor and rejected “the King’s offer for Frogmore Cottage,” he would “not feel obliged to even give up his day to continue paying. -a daily allowance.”

“The Duke informed the monarch that regardless of any ultimatum, he would remain in the Royal Lodge no matter what,” Hardman wrote in his book. “At that point, the Keeper of the Privy Purse (the monarchy’s chief financial officer) was ordered to end his life support.”

According to him, his lease with the Crown Domain runs until 2078 The times.
