Former San Francisco Giants Cy Young Ace has confidence in new director

The San Francisco giants are in the midst of a brand new era that begins this offseason after the team is fired Farhan Zaidi as president of baseball operations and replaced him with franchise legend and future Hall of Fame catcher Buster Posey.

Posey played for the Giants from 2009 to 2021, spending his entire career with the team and helping San Francisco win three World Series titles in five years in the early 2010s. A seven-time All-Star The 2012 National League MVP winner, Posey epitomized what it meant to be a winning baseball player and was the heart and soul of a golden era of baseball in the Bay Area.

But now he’s preparing for a whole new kind of challenge in an executive role, tasked with reviving a now-downtrodden franchise that has missed the playoffs in seven of the past eight seasons. Despite the enormous challenge ahead, former Giants teammate and Cy Young wins pitcher Jake Peacock – who played with Posey during the final seasons of his career – said further MLB Network that he thinks Posey has a huge chance for success in this role and could be different from other former players who have tried to make a splash in the front office.

“They won championships based on culture, built on fundamentals. They certainly weren’t the most talented team. They did almost everything right and when it matters most, that’s what October delivers,” Peavy said. “Groupthink is always present in the game of baseball. When everyone is zigging, you have to zag…Buster is so much further in the weeds than any other player. He has a great chance to succeed. I actually expect him to do so in big ways will do.”

Peavy joined the Giants ahead of the 2014 season, which happened to be the final World Series title season of their dominant run. He saw firsthand Posey’s leadership in the clubhouse and baseball IQ on full display. Peavy has nothing but good things to say about his former teammate knowledgeable and qualified like anyone else when it comes to predicting the future for a franchise ready to get back to playing winning ball.

Peavy’s show of confidence will only continue to raise hopes that Posey could be the man to get the team back to a place where they do just that.
