American Cruise Lines Celebrates Early Delivery of American Liberty After Successful Sea Trials

American Cruise Lines proudly announces that American Liberty, its third new Coastal Cat, has successfully completed sea trials. The 100-passenger small ship was delivered ahead of schedule by Chesapeake Shipbuilding. American Liberty is the latest addition to American’s Project Blue, a series of 12 new small ships designed for river and coastal cruising in the United States. The series continues to expand, with several more ships under construction, including the fourth Coastal Cat, American Legend, scheduled to debut in November 2024, as well as four more Patriot-class ships.

“The American Liberty is the newest ship in our fleet, reflecting our continued commitment to building innovative small vessels for America’s rivers and coasts,” said Charles B. Robertson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American Cruise Lines

American Liberty is set to embark on her maiden voyage next month, departing Providence, Rhode Island on August 15. The roundtrip voyage will follow the company’s popular New England Islands itinerary, with stops in New Bedford, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, as well as Block Island, Newport and Bristol, Rhode Island. Beyond this summer’s New England itinerary, American Liberty will offer a range of exclusive U.S. itineraries along the East Coast throughout 2024. These cruises combine the luxury of river cruising with the adventurous spirit of expedition cruising, while visiting exclusively U.S. ports.

Following the successful launch of sister ships American Eagle and American Glory in 2023, American Liberty now joins the fleet as the newest ship, underscoring the company’s strong market presence, fleet expansion and itinerary diversity in the United States. American’s small ship fleet continues to grow each year, with innovative designs that provide exceptional accommodations for smaller vessels. The company has the world’s only 100% U.S.-flagged river and small cruise fleet.

With a capacity of just 100 passengers, American Liberty features four decks and the same catamaran bow as her sister ships. She offers elegant interiors and accommodations with private balconies, including spacious single and double occupancy staterooms and suites. The ship also features a stunning sundeck with panoramic views, comfortable indoor and outdoor lounges, a main restaurant, a casual café and a fitness center—remarkable amenities for a ship of her size.
