Vice President Kamala Harris has emerged as the candidate Democrats are rallying around, and it’s easy to get caught up in her quirks. The temptation is great to focus on everything from her awkward speeches to her professed love of Venn diagrams.

While there are plenty of arguments for bypassing the vice president, this strategy will not be a winning one. Focusing on her personally is in line with the Democratic strategy of emphasizing her personality rather than her policies and past.

The Democrats are going to focus solely on the cult of personality and the importance of making this election a historic event. A vote for her would be a vote for the first woman president, among other firsts. That’s what they want the election to be about, and they’ll use that to mobilize their voters. If the GOP focuses on Harris’s personal qualities, it will keep the attention exactly where the Democrats want it.

A winning strategy would be to move away from the person and focus solely on the policies.

Kamala Harris speaks

It is very clear that President Joe Biden has not been the one to lead the country, probably for his entire presidency.

The one who was pulling the strings has now mobilized behind the scenes to put Kamala in her place.

If voters are unhappy with the policies and results of the past three and a half years, they should not expect positive change just because they replaced the puppet.

This should be the message, clear and simple.

Vice President Harris, who has not received a single primary vote in any presidential election, will undoubtedly be beholden to whoever nominates her. That means the policies implemented by the Democratic “system,” from the immigration of millions of illegal immigrants to the economic and fiscal catastrophe, to massive inflation and Americans’ struggle to meet their basic needs, to massive non-emergency deficits, will remain in place.

Tired of America’s counterproductive energy policies? Get ready for four more years of destructive “green” policies. Hate our weakness on the international stage that has emboldened terrorists around the world? Get ready for it to happen again.

Biden presented himself to the United States as a moderate candidate, but it quickly became clear that this was not the case. His policies have led to making life much worse for most Americans, not better.

Kamala will not be a moderate, she will be at best Joe Biden 2.0.

Or maybe worse.

Vice President Harris has been influenced by Democratic socialists in the past. She was a co-sponsor in the Senate of the original Green New Deal bill, which contained a socialist wish list of every bad socialist policy imaginable and an unimaginable price tag.

Her experience as vice president, including as the White House point person on immigration and border issues, has not produced comforting results.

We cannot afford to let the current government run the country for four more years. Americans are tired. They are struggling. And they need to be reminded over and over again that Kamala is still the same.

Focusing on personal barbs and sarcasm may be tempting and easy to get, but it’s a losing strategy.

Focusing on policies rather than people reminds people that no matter who is standing in front of the teleprompter, the bad actors who have made life worse in recent years must be removed from government.
