Biden and Trump will meet at the White House on Wednesday

Nov. 9 (UPI) — President Joe Biden and president-elect Donald Trump meets Wednesday morning at the White House.

Biden invited Trump to an 11 a.m. meeting in the Oval Office, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced Saturday.

The meeting will include discussions about the transition of power from the Biden administration to the new Trump administration.

A meeting between the outgoing president and the new president-elect is a common move, but Trump not been a host Biden after losing the 2020 election.

Biden already spoke by telephone with Trump to congratulate him on his election victory over vice president Kamala Harriswho became the Democratic Party’s nominee after Biden withdrew his candidacy in July.

And Biden on Thursday spoke from the Rose Garden about the call.

“I assured him that I will direct my entire government to work with his team to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition. That is what the American people deserve.”

Trump is the second president to serve non-consecutive terms in the office. Former President Grover Cleveland served as the country’s 22nd and 24th presidents. Benjamin Harrison was the 23rd president.
