125 LIVE marks its eight-year anniversary

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – 125 LIFE in Rochester, his eighth birthday kicked off on Friday with a “Roaring 20s Party.”

The party included people dressed in 1920s attire, a swing band, food, drinks and other activities. It’s part of a weeklong fundraising campaign to raise $20,000 for building improvements.

“125 LIVE is raising money to ensure this building remains state-of-the-art,” said Executive Director Sylwia Bujak. “It is clear that we have been here for eight years and there is a decline. “The walls need to be painted, the floors need to be replaced, so that’s why we’re raising money, to make sure our members have a great experience.”

125 LIVE moved to its current building at 125 Elton Hills Dr. on November 2, 2016. Formerly known as Senior Citizens Services, it has been in business for 65 years. The current building opened with 497 members. According to Bujak, there are currently about 7,000 members and 1,000 people visit every day.

A silent auction will begin on Saturday, October 26. There are other activities throughout the week, including a pool party, ice cream, trivia and a Halloween costume contest.

“If non-members would like to support us, they can do so by purchasing from our silent auction,” Bujak said. “It will last until the end of November.”

The silent auction will include dozens of items and experiences for purchase, such as a custom pet portrait, ski lift tickets and tickets to sporting events. People must go to 125 LIVE in person to bid on the items.
