Jurgen Klopp’s quote about David Coote resurfaces as PGMOL suspends referee after alleged video leaks at Liverpool – Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp’s criticism of David Coote has resurfaced after PGMOL launched an investigation into alleged footage of the Premier League referee making expletive-laden comments about the former Liverpool manager.

On Monday afternoon, a video circulated on social media showing claims Coote makes disparaging comments towards Liverpool and Klopp.

In the clip, a man, who appears to be Coote, is asked about one Liverpool match in which he was ‘recently’ the fourth official. It is unclear when the footage was recorded, but it does mention Klopp.

The other man in the video then asks Coote what he thought of Liverpool during that particular match, to which he replied: “Liverpool were s***.”

A question is then asked about it Kloppto which he replies: “A c***. Absolute c***.

He continued: “Apart from the fact that he took a right hand crack at me when I was refereeing against Burnley during lockdown, he accused me of lying and then just took a right hand blow to me. I have no interest in speaking to someone who is damn arrogant.”

Coote then added: “(James) Milner is fine. I get on well with Milner.”

A photo from the match is then shown on a phone, showing Coote wearing a mask as he stood next to Milner and Klopp.

PGMOL – the refereeing organization responsible for professional match officials in England – is investigating the images circulating on social media and on Monday afternoon it was confirmed that Coote has been suspended with immediate effect pending a full investigation.

A statement added: “PGMOL will make no further comment until that process is complete.”

Coote, who was responsible for Liverpool’s 2-0 win Aston Villa on Saturday denied inappropriate behavior and urged PGMOL that the viral video in which he appears is not real, according to The mirror.

In December last year, Klopp then criticized VAR official Coote Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Arsenal at Anfield.

Klopp said his side should have been awarded a penalty in the 19th minute after Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard appeared to block Mohamed Salah’s path to the ball with his hand.

Chris Kavanagh, who was officiating, allowed play to continue and the match was not stopped for a VAR check as Coote ruled Odegaard handled the ball while falling.

“Yes, I saw it,” Klopp said. “I’m pretty sure someone will come and explain to me why it wasn’t a handball, but I don’t know how?

“I’m not saying the referee can see it because I don’t know where he was at the time. But how can a guy in the office see that and not come to the conclusion that it might be worth it?” referee look again?”
