Driver hospitalized after crash in Cayuga County

The King Ferry Fire Department, with support from the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department, responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 34B near McGarr Farms early this morning. At approximately 8:15 a.m., a southbound pickup truck left the roadway, struck and broke a utility pole, then crossed the highway before coming to a stop on the east side of the road.

Emergency services determined that the driver, who was the only occupant, required medical attention. The individual was safely removed from the vehicle and taken to Southern Cayuga Instant Aid, Inc. transported to Cayuga Medical Center for further evaluation.

While the King Ferry Fire Department was on scene, the Genoa crew was released once sufficient resources were confirmed. New York State Police are investigating the cause of the crash. NYSEG has been notified and will replace the damaged utility pole.
