Is the Irgun of 1948 Reborn? – LewRockwell

The signposts are there for all to read: the West – by deliberately neglecting such explicit markers – cannot then complain about, or escape, the consequences that follow.

No, the tin ear is not a new Western dementia—a massive, one-time collapse of reason—that we are experiencing. It is something worse: a return to a dogmatic, authoritarian version of the truth that dissident physicist Eric Weinstein Complains has (in the West) also destroyed real science – by ignoring and silencing its most important dissenting voices, while richly rewarding the frauds of science.

On July 24, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu addressed the US Congress, declaring in a Manichean and uncompromising tone that the West was facing an “axis of evil” (Iran and its allies) that the United States must join in destroying. It was a call to participate in a war of civilizations.

His invitation was greeted with 58 standing ovations from American lawmakers.

Netanyahu returned home to find disaster in the Druze community in the Golan. Missile fragments struck, killing and wounding many children playing soccer (the exact circumstances are still unclear). Western rationality, however, is perfectly capable of deducing, first, that Majdal Shams is in occupied Syria; second, that the Druze community in that area remains overwhelmingly Syrian (rejecting Israeli citizenship) and largely pro-Syrian. And that it is neither Jewish nor Israeli. The West, however, cannot seem to draw another very obvious conclusion: why on earth would Hezbollah intentionally attack a Syrian community in Syrian territory that is largely pro-Resistance?

They wouldn’t. Yet these obvious facts are completely ignored by a rationality that, as Weinstein suggests, actively prefers fraud to truth. Spokesman Kirby said Hezbollah attacked children northern Israel.

The Israeli Defense Minister keeps repeating: “We do not want war.” Western leaders repeat the same phrase: No one wants war. “We are confident that Israel’s response will be limited and limited to military targets.” The White House: “In our view, there is no reason for a dramatic escalation in southern Lebanon and there is still time and space for diplomacy.”

So what is happening? Two major assassinations: one in Beirut and one in Tehran (i.e., of a guest on Iranian sovereign territory). Western leaders are expressing “concern.” Hamas’ target in Tehran, Ismail Haniyeh, as the Qatari prime minister pointed out, was the main negotiator in the Gaza hostage crisis.

This too will be overlooked, although Netanyahu’s intention to bring together Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran into a single “axis of evil” – thus fulfilling his thesis of the joint session of Congress – must be obvious even to a narrow-minded Washington.

Recall the new “equation” that followed the assassination of a senior IRGC official at the Iranian consulate in April 2024: from now on, Iran will respond directly – and directly from Iran. Washington claims that it does not want war with Iran, while this is the latter option that Netanyahu has explicitly advocated. Did the parliamentarians not understand his message?

For nearly ten months, Israel has failed to stabilize the situation along the northern border and allow displaced Israelis to return to their homes. Even if the Beirut attack does not lead to a wider war, the restoration of negotiated stability on the Lebanese border is now out of reach – as is an agreement on the Gaza hostage crisis. How can mediation succeed when one side murders the other side’s negotiator? Qatari Prime Minister al-Thani watched with sadness.

The West has also “forgotten” what happened in Israel on the very day of the assassinations: far-right militias left their settlements and stormed two IDF military bases. These anarchic scenes of mass break-ins, instigated by several members of the ruling coalition, some of whom participated in the break-ins, have angered Defense Minister Gallant.

The raids were supported by a minister and several Knesset members who were seeking to free reservists suspected of aggravated abuse and forced sodomy of a Palestinian detainee. According to a security source, the injured detainee was taken to hospital with serious injuries, including to a private part of his body, which left him unable to walk.

“The spectacle of military police coming to arrest our best heroes in Sde Teiman is nothing short of shameful.“, Ben Gvir, whose ministry controls the Israel Police and the Israel Prison Service, said of the assault on the IDF post.

But the broader picture as told by Yossi Melman is this:

“What is happening from the nationalist messianic right, with the support, wink or silence of right-wing ministers and MKs, is a ‘putsch’. The youth who are coming down from the hills of the ‘State of Judah’ to act with the same violent methods – used against the Palestinians – (but now) are being used against the State of Israel. MK Limor Son Har-Malech (Otzma Yehudit) said: ‘The people of Israel will fight the enemies from outside and the enemies who are trying to destroy us at home’ (those like the attorney general who is seeking to investigate the torture practiced by Sde Teiman). The concept of the knife in the back and betrayal at home echoes the voices in Germany after World War II.”

Again, overlooked but not in the news: the situation in Sde Teiman was widely known and considered to be “more horrible than anything we heard about Abu Ghraib and GuantanamoA UN report has detailed how arbitrarily detained Palestinians have been subjected to torture and ill-treatment. Settlement militias, however, have described the perpetrators of anal rape as “heroes” – and portrayed IDF investigators as fifth columnists. Reports suggest that the perpetrators of the rapes in Sde Teiman are receiving high-level protection.

This account of systematic torture follows earlier revelations that the Israeli military had targeted tens of thousands of Gazans as assassination suspects, using an artificial intelligence targeting system called Lavenderwith little human supervision and a permissive policy on human losses.

In a similar vein, right-wing government ministers celebrated the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on social media on Wednesday morning, thus:“This is the right way to purge the world of this filth,” Heritage Minister Amichay Eliyahu, a member of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s far-right Otzma Yehudit party, tweeted:

“No more imaginary ‘peace’ agreements or surrenders, no more pity for the walking dead. The iron hand that will strike them is the one that will bring calm and a modicum of comfort, and strengthen our ability to live in peace with those who seek peace. Haniyeh’s death makes the world a little better.”

So what is this “truth” that the West ignores and silences, while amplifying its narrative lies? It is that the Israel it claims to understand is something very different today. And that it has an epistemology at odds with mechanistic rationalism.

A far-right eschatological sect now holds a majority in government – and has a self-defense militia ready to attack the military establishment and the Israeli state. No one has been arrested for the attack and takeover of the two bases. They dare not.

Moshe “Bogie” Ya’alon, former chief of staff of the Israeli army, who also served as Israel’s defense minister, said this in a video interview about the forces taking power in Israel:

“When you talk about Smotrich and Ben Gvir: they have a rabbi. His name is Dov Lior. He is the rabbi of the Jewish Underground, who intended to blow up the Dome of the Rock – and before that the Jerusalem buses. Why? To accelerate the “Last War.” Do you hear them talking about the Last War or about Smotrich’s concept of “submission”? Read the article he published in Shiloh in 2017. First of all, this concept is based on Jewish supremacy: Mein Kampf in reverse.”

“My hair stands on end when I say that – as he said. I learned and grew up in the house of Holocaust survivors and ‘never again.’ It’s Mein Kampf in reverse: Jewish supremacy: and that’s why (Smotrich) says, ‘My wife won’t go into a room with an Arab.’ It’s rooted in ideology. And then actually, what he’s longing for – as soon as possible – is a big war. A war of Gog and Magog. How do you light the flames? A massacre like the one in the Cave of the Patriarchs (1994)? Baruch Goldstein is a student of this rabbi. Ben Gvir has Goldstein’s portrait hung (in his house).”

“This is what comes into play in the decision-making process within the Israeli government.”

Rabbi Dov Lior has been described by Netanyahu as the “elite unit that rules Israel“, because of its influence and control over the settler forces. Is the Irgun of 1948, relying heavily on the Mizrahim, being reborn?

Is it not time for the Western ruling structures to look up from their reverie and read the runes that are manifesting all around them? Some serious actors do not think like you Westerners; they are looking for Gog and Magog (the prophecy that “the children of Israel” will be victorious in the battle of Armageddon). That is what you are risking.
