The disgraced MLB star is closing in on flushing 2 million

Shortstop Tampa Bay Rays Hike Franco was arrested Monday for his involvement in an armed altercation in the Dominican Republic, police said Monday.

The dispute took place on Sunday in the parking lot of an apartment complex in San Juan de la Maguana.

Franco, 23, is also currently awaiting trial after being charged in a sexual abuse case involving a 14-year-old girl. The All-Star infielder still has $172 million left on his contract with the Rays, and he may ultimately see none of it.

Meregirdo Espinosa, a spokesman for the Dominican police, told The Associated Press that the altercation took place in a parking lot in San Juan de la Maguana, a city 115 miles (187 kilometers) west of Santo Domingo. Franco was arrested on Sunday. A man and a woman were also arrested and two firearms were seized, police said.

Espinosa said one of the guns allegedly belonged to Franco, who was reportedly fighting with the other man for the woman’s attention.

The police do not want to say whether there are any injuries.

Franco will go on trial in the northern province of Puerto Plata on December 12 in the sexual abuse case. He was also charged with sexual and commercial exploitation of a minor and human trafficking. He was released on January 5, four days after his arrest on abuse charges.
